Thrive – Supporting Primary Pupils to Re-Engage and Flourish

Thrive is Active Sport’s 6-week specialist Alternative Provision programme for Primary School pupils, using sport and physical activity to support emotional development, confidence, and engagement.

Through structured mentoring and movement-based learning, Thrive provides pupils with a positive reset, helping them develop the skills needed to succeed in school and beyond.

Who is Thrive For?

Thrive is designed for primary school pupils who would benefit from short-term intervention outside the traditional classroom environment.

It is particularly suitable for pupils who:

  • Are experiencing emotional or behavioural challenges

  • Have low confidence or self-esteem

  • Are struggling to engage in classroom learning

  • Would benefit from practical, movement-based learning

  • Need a nurturing, supportive environment

  • May be at risk of disengagement or exclusion


Programme Outcomes

Pupils participating in Thrive will be supported to:

  • Build confidence and self-esteem

  • Develop emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Improve resilience and perseverance

  • Re-engage with learning through practical activities

  • Develop teamwork, communication and social skills

  • Experience success outside the traditional classroom
